Youth Corps

As a part of the Front-of-House staff, ushers are responsible for supporting the audience experience before, during, and after a performance and ensuring an excellent standard of hospitality for all patrons. This includes:

  • Welcoming patrons at the theater, including scanning tickets, seating patrons, working at the merchandise or concession stand, and facilitating Family Engagement activities during performances.
  • Collaborating with fellow ushers and Front-of-House leadership to ensure the theatergoing experience is warm, safe and accessible for all patrons
  • Assisting audience members with exiting the theater, including supporting theater evacuations as needed
  • Providing additional support to theater and production staff as needed

New Victory Usher Corps

New York City students in their junior year of high school can apply to join the New Victory Usher Corps. In addition to on-the-job training, this rigorous program offers young adults from across the city life skills workshops and opportunities to see live theater from around the world.

New 42 College Corps

A collaboration between New 42 and CUNY Arts, New 42 College Corps provides part-time employment for CUNY undergraduates who desire a flexible and supportive work environment as they pursue college success. The program pairs employment in the arts with the academic, financial and personal support undergraduates need to navigate and complete their college education.

In addition to working Front-of-House for New Victory and other New 42 theaters, all members of the College Corps participate in one-on-one counseling, professional development, life skills workshops and access to beneficial CUNY services and resources, all focusing on themes of goal setting, stress and time management, money management and navigating financial aid.

Fellows Corps

The New 42 Fellows Corps is a career-launching employment and networking opportunity for former New 42 Youth Corps Alumni and CUNY Cultural Corps Alumni who have developed an interest in pursuing non-performing arts careers. Available to Usher Corps alumni who left the program in good standing and are at the end of their education careers, New 42 Fellows Corps provides the experiences, industry knowledge and contacts the participant needs for success on their chosen career track.

Designed as a year-long immersion in arts administration, the Fellowship will place up to five young people in entry-level positions within the New 42 department that aligns with their career goals and college studies. Fellows will also be able to take advantage of professional development workshops, industry conferences and networking opportunities throughout the year. Depending on the department needs and the participant’s schedule, New 42 Fellows will be either full time or part time.
